Later tonight, Arturo "Thunder" Gatti (39-6, 30 KO's) will put his WBC Super Lightweight Championship on the line against the undefeated, number two rated pound for pound fighter in the world, "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather, Jr (33-0, 22 KOs). The bout will take place at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. Mayweather will encounter a madhouse when he steps into the city known as Gatti country. The sold out crowd of pro-Gatti supporters will cheer for Gatti until the very end. Should the fight go the distance, will the pro-Gatti crowd swerve the judges into giving Arturo the nod in close rounds?
It will be power vs. speed, slugger vs. boxer and hero vs. villian, all in one fight. The very first pay per view headliner for both men and they are aiming to make this bout a memorable event. The big biggest question in the fight, may or may not be answered tonight. The question revolves around the chin of Mayweather. Most experts, fans and fighters are wondering what will happen if Gatti lands one of his bombs on Mayweather's chin. There are many experts that feel Mayweather will box his way to victory and just as many other experts pick Mayweather to stand in with Gatti when a key moment arises in the bout. The other biggest question in the bout, revolves around Gatti's ability to deal with a fighter as quick and as skilled as Mayweather.
Gatti has not faced a fighter with Mayweather's level of speed in his entire career. The only fighter that came close was Ivan Robinson and Gatti lost both bouts with Robinson. Robinson was never able to seriously hurt Gatti, but his high punch ratio and quick hands were the main factors in both decision wins. Mayweather on the other hand, has never faced a fighter as big or as strong as Gatti. The best punches we ever saw Mayweather take were against Jose Luis Castillo in their first bout. Mayweather took some of Castillo's best punches to the head and body, most of Castillo's opponents crumble when hit by a serious Castillo punch. The power difference between Gatti and Castillo is decent, but is Gatti's power a big enough difference to present serious problems for Floyd.
Gatti needs to cut off the ring in this fight and bang shots to the body of Mayweather in order to slow him down. Mayweather needs to keep his distance and wear Gatti down with a heavy assault of straight punches. Gatti is more vulnerable to the head, while Mayweather is more vulnerable to the body.
The first bout features 105 pound minimum weight champion Ivan Calderon. There will be no round by round coverage of this fight. The result will be posted upon the result.
Max Kellerman is taking the place of Manny Steward with the Bob Costas on the "between fight" perspectives. Steward is in the corner of WBA junior welterweight champion Vivian Harris.
There is a three fight undercard, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will be in action tonight and Vivian Harris will be in the main supporting bout.
As the fight crowd slowly began to filter into the Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall Convention Center this evening, the Main Events & Top Rank co-promoted HBO Pay Per View fight card featuring Arturo Gatti defending his WBC Super Lightweight Championship against #1 ranked contender "Flamboyant" Floyd Mayweather, included five non-televised fights.
Here are those results:

In a bout just completed Joel Julio, from Monteria, Columbia annihilated an overmatched Art Medina (12-15, 5 KO’s) and after a flash knockdown continued the assault on his badly hurt foe before finally dropping Medina for good with a tremendous shot to the body at 2:56 of the first round. It was Julio’s 17th knockout win, in eighteen fights, for the undefeated welterweight sensation.
