Regarding Team Helenius' accusations in an earlier article , Chris Meyer (CEO of Sauerland Event) wants to clarify the situation from Team Sauerland's point of view:
Sauerland Event has an exclusive promotional contract with Robert Helenius for two more years and the extension time due to his two injuries suffered (against Chisora in December 2011 and against Sprott in March 2013).
We had scheduled a show in Helsinki for March 2014 together with our Finnish partner. Due to the latest developments we now need to cancel this fight card. However, we are ready to offer Robert Helenius further bouts, whether there are going to be staged in Finland, Germany or elsewhere.
The contract that was signed by Robert Helenius was written in German with a certified Finnish translation being attached. Our offer, which was submitted by (matchmaker) Hagen Doering, coincides completely with this signed contract.
We actually granted Robert Helenius a loan. This was gradually paid to serve Robert and his family's living expenses. We did this in good faith and expect the repayment when he is going to fight again. It was certainly not used to cover any kind of medical costs as Robert should be medically insured, like every other boxer worldwide. Regarding his recuperation, we can assure that Sauerland Event covered all of his costs (including traveling, hotel, food and further medical care). We have also explicitly pointed out to Robert Helenius that he is self-responsible for taking care of paying taxes.
We at Sauerland Event hope to speak with Robert Helenius regarding his boxing career in the near future. He still is a corner stone for us as well as our TV partners. Under the guidance of our coaching staff as well as of our whole team, Robert was built up as one of the best heavyweights in the world, who enjoys a big reputation worldwide. We got to know Robert as a humble, friendly and intelligent young man who could always come to talk to us about his problems. Therefore, we have no understanding as to why the people who surround Robert are making untrue claims in public. We are always open for constructive talks in good faith.
