Rivermead Leisure Centre, Reading ------ In the second quarterfinal of Channel 5's light heavyweight tournament, light heavyweight Leon Senior (10-2-1) retained his BBBofC Southern Area 175lb belt with a disappointing technical draw against former middleweight Tony Hill (12-3-1, 6 KOs). The fight was cut short - literally - after Hill suffered a deep cut over his forehead following an accidental headbutt in round two.

--------------------

In a close and entertaining light heavyweight action fight, Bob Ajisafe (12-2, 3 KOs) acquired a vacant BBBofC British 175lb title with a close unanimous decision over fight veteran and former English, British and Commonwealth champion in three weight classes Dean Francis (34-5-1, 26 KOs). Final scores were: 116-114, 117-113 and 118-112 - for Ajisafe.

Francis, who was first engaged into minor title fights nineteen years ago, prompted to a fine start but started to fade in stints from round four. Ajisafe had a good round five, almost stopping Francis late on. He cruised to a big round six but the 40-year old veteran was still game and dangerous. Landing huge right bombs he got himself back in the next couple of rounds but used too much gas and was once again punished in the championship rounds. The action was see-saw and very entertaining throughout the whole fight.

Ajisafe vs. Francis title affair is part of the eight-man light heavyweight tourney, proposed by Channel Five.
