As previously reported, one of Floyd Mayweather's bodyguards was shot around 3 am on Monday - as the boxer and his entourage arrived at the InterContinental Buckhead hotel in Atlanta.

The former five division world champion and his entourage were driving in three vehicles to the Buckhead hotel, and when the vehicles pulled in to the establishment - another vehicle pulled up and one or more individuals in that car opened fire at the Mayweather vehicles - and one of the boxer's bodyguards was shot in the leg.

The bodyguard has been identified as Greg La Rosa, who is a longtime member of the boxer's security team.

According to Atlanta police, all three of the Mayweather vehicles drove away and the vehicle containing the shot bodyguard was followed by the shooters.

When they were able to lose the shooters, the bodyguard was taken to the Grady Memorial Hospital hospital where he was treated for the gunshot wound and released a few hours later.

The local police are hoping to speak with Mayweather as soon as possible, as there are currently no suspects.

Police have openly confirmed that it was a "target shooting" - but they are still not sure if the boxer himself or someone else in the entourage was the intended target.

According to TMZ, La Rosa was a passenger in the lead vehicle of Floyd's 3-car entourage -- which police say was leaving a Waffle House after Floyd had hosted a party at Medusa nightclub.

Police say the actions of the shooter suggest Floyd's crew was specifically targeted -- though it's unclear if the shooter was trying to shoot Floyd. Police do not believe anyone in Floyd's entourage fired back at the shooter.

Mayweather was ringside this past Saturday night at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, where his promotional company staged a Showtime televised tripleheader.
