Heavyweight Brandon Moore has signed with Dmitriy Salita’s promotional company.
Moore will make his debut with Salita Promotions against Skylar Lacy in a 10-round fight on February 2 as part of the DAZN undercard telecast headlined by Claressa Shields-Danielle Perkins at the Dort Financial Center in Flint, Michigan.
Moore of Lakeland, Florida, is entering his seventh year of boxing and his fifth as a professional. The 30-year-old is looking to reestablish himself as an emerging face in heavyweight boxing after losing to Richard Torrez Jnr in 2024.
Moore holds a record of 16-1 (10 KOs) and was previously signed with Top Rank in 2023, but hasn’t been with Top Rank since his loss to Torrez. Moore recalled that when he defeated Curtis Harper in April 2022 on a Salita Promotions card, it left an impression on his new promoter. Moore suffered a cut but remained unfazed in the fight.
“He [Salita] said he had never seen somebody get cut and be able to hold their composure,” Moore said. “He says he thinks he can put me on the big stage, and he thinks I can give these top guys trouble with my awkwardness.”
Moore, who played college basketball at Southeastern University and Cardinal Stritch University, where he graduated with an accounting and finance degree, is currently riding a two-fight knockout streak and is optimistic about what Salita can do for him.
“Brandon is a talented American, I have known Brandon for many years,” Salita said. “A capable American heavyweight with charisma, athleticism, and skill is rare in today's day and age. Brandon has got all those ingredients, so it just made a lot of sense to work together, as you may know, I've done a good job with heavyweights and I love working with them, so he fits very well into the mix.”
Salita has a history of taking heavyweights to big fights as he has guided Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller, Otto Wallin, and Jermaine Franklin to marquee fights in their careers. Moore hopes to be the next heavyweight Salita can broker a significant deal for.
“He makes a lot of big moves,” Moore said. “I just need somebody to give me an opportunity to get to the big dance so I can show up and show out.”
Since Moore’s loss to Torrez, he has rebuilt his team. Former professional Charles Whittaker now is the lead voice in the corner. Whittaker had been in the corner prior, but now has taken control of the camp.
For this fight, Moore was not shy with his words when it pertained to his opponent, Lacy, a 30-year-old fighter from Indianapolis, Indiana. Lacy holds an undefeated record heading into the fight at 8-0-2 (6 KOs). Lacy is 1-0-2 in his last three fights, with his draws coming against George Arias and Antonio Mireles.
“I am not underestimating him at all,” Moore said. “I'm going to beat him up. I am going to hurt him, and that’s going to be that. Richard [Torrez] definitely humbled me. But I can't wait to get that fight back eventually. I want that fight again. That's really what my driving force is right now.”
Last month, Salita signed Pryce Taylor, adding to a heavyweight roster that includes Jermaine Franklin.
“The goal for all these fighters is to be heavyweight champions of the world,” Salita said.
