Promoter Eddie Hearn believes that we could very well receive a second helping of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. Dmitry Bivol in the fall.

On Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Bivol retained his WBA light heavyweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Canelo.

All three judges scored it 115-113 for the unbeaten champion.

There is a rematch clause, which Canelo has the right to exercise.

"We have a rematch clause in this fight, but it's ultimately up to Saul to active it," Hearn said.

Canelo already had plans in place for September, as he was scheduled to face Gennadiy Golovkin in a long awaited trilogy showdown.

The unexpected loss may have derailed that scenario - with Canelo possibly going in the direction of a rematch with Bivol.

Canelo is still the undisputed champion at super middleweight and was taking part in only his second fight at 175-pounds.

Hearn fully admits Canelo should not be fighting at the light heavyweight limit, but the Mexican star is always demanding the toughest challenges possible.

"You can't advise Canelo Alvarez. He wants the challenges. And I said it before this fight, it's almost like he wants to handicap himself in these fights, to be in tough fights. He ruled at 160, he ruled at 168. I said in the buildup that he has no right to be at 175 - and you saw that tonight. And if he's going to trigger that rematch clause, which I fully expect him to do, he's going to have to come back with a brilliant performance," Hearn said.

"Right now, Dmitry's confidence is going to be on another level. We know the plans with Gennadiy Golovkin, that's on the shelf. The big rematch with Dmitry Bivol in September is now in play."
