While not a breaking news story, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) saw fit to confirm its recently announced super welterweight title fight.

A purse bid hearing had been scheduled for the mandated showdown between defending titlist Jermall Charlo and unbeaten contender Julian Williams, but the session was formally canceled as both sides have agreed to a December clash.

"The Purse Bid scheduled for Tuesday, November 1, 2016 for the IBF Jr. Middleweight Championship mandatory defense fight between Champion Jermall Charlo and #1, Julian Williams has been cancelled," IBF spokesperson Jeanette Salazar confirmed in a statement Tuesday morning. "Both sides have agreed the fight will take place on December 10, 2016 in Los Angeles, California."

The bout will air live on Showtime, with Richard Schaefer's recently formed Ringstar Promotions in association with TGB Promotions. The event marks Schaefer's first promotional foray since his forced split from Golden Boy Promotions in 2014.

Charlo (24-0, 18KOs) will make the third defense of the strap he won last September. The unbeaten Houston native boxed his way into the history books when he and Jermell Charlo became the first ever set of twin brothers to simultaneously reign as champs in the same weight class.

The historic moment came in May, with both boxing back-to-back on the same card. Jermell rallied to knock out John Jackson to win a vacant title. Less than an hour later, Jermall registered his second title defense with a hard-fought 12-round decision over former champ Austin Trout.

Williams (22-0-1, 14KOs) has gained a reputation as among the most avoided athletes in the sport today. The well-schooled boxer from Philadelphia has been out of the ring since a 7th round knockout win over Marcello Matamo in March to become the mandatory challenger.
