Jake Smith’s Baltimore Boxing Promotions will pay respects to late amateur boxer Davey Steck Jr. during their card on Saturday, May 11.

Steck Jr., a graduate of Baltimore’s Perry Hall High School, passed away on April 14. Baltimore Boxing Promotions will have an honorary 10 count and host a 50/50, with the proceeds going to Steck Jr’s family. Steck Jr. was scheduled to fight May 11.

“David’s premature passing is extremely sad and has taken a toll on the community,” said Smith, a former fighter who has promoted pro and amateur boxing shows for more than 30 years.

“He was a very kind young man and leaves behind two loving parents, a brother, fiancé and many friends.”

The May 11 card features more 10 ten Olympic-style bouts and takes place at the Carrol County AG Center in Westminster, MD. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the first fight is scheduled for 7:15. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit Baltimoreboxing.com.
