I swear it never fails... Going as far back to when he first won the WBC Light Middleweight championship. There was always a flavor of the month that Canelo "too much of a bitch to face."

First it was Angulo... yes believe or not new boxing fans there was a time where fans thought Canelo would never face Angulo and that Angulo would destroy him in 2 rounds. Hmm sounds familiar...

Then it was Kirkland after he destroyed Angulo in Cancun, it was the same thing. See above...

Then comes Austin Trout, I gotta give it up to the fans they got really creative with this one. That Canelo would never face him, Trout will make him look silly in the ring, Canelo should stay as far away as possible, bad style match up, etc.

Then comes Erislandy Lara... and same as above.

Here we are today with the new flavor of the month... GGG. And it's the same thing all over again.

So why after all these years are people still saying that Canelo will duck fighters?

Whether you like it or not the middleweight division is 154.1 and up to 160 lbs plain and simple. Nowhere does it say you have to come in at exactly 160.

There are no CWs in a title fight unless both sides come to some agreement.
If Golovkin says no CW, then Canelo has to fight at 160lb LIMIT(MW division) or be stripped and duck his mandatory.

What's your point? This isn't the first time he's asked for a 155 catch weight. People act as if Canelo choose 155 specifically for Golovkin to "duck" him. He's been fighting at this weight since last year.

That's the problem! He's not forcing GGG to do anything. Nothing has happened yet! If they both agree on the catch weight who the hell cares?! You're basically agreeing with me. My problem is with the people that are saying that 155 isn't within middleweight division. When it is. Besides Golovkin and K2 just said they are willing to negotiate at a lower weight.

Yes weighing 155lbs for a MW fight is under the MW limit of 160lbs.
Canelo wants to fight at a limit of 155lbs. That is a catchweight.
That's what people see because it's what Canelo says.
The best thing he could do is when asked, just say that he will fight GGG and not say anything about the weight instead of negotiating in public.
