  • Comments Thread For: Canelo's Coach: We Are Not Inventing a New Division!

Edison Reynoso, trainer of WBC middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, says his fighter is not trying to invent a new weight division but he feels very comfortable at 155-pounds and has no intention of moving up any further.

Canelo captured the middleweight title on Saturday night in Las Vegas with a twelve round unanimous decision over Miguel Cotto at the Mandalay Bay.

Then what are you doing exactly at 155?

Hope this isn't left to fly. It will be a new trend just like the ones Mayweather started and fighters would often use the excuse "But Mayweather does it".

Imagine if Pacquiao fought the welterweights with a limit of 141.

25 years old..and his last 5 have been cw's...by the mayweather standard he cannot ever be great...not to mention he certainly lost 1 of those fights and had questionable scoring in 2 of them..actually 3 of them bc 119vs cotto is ridiculous..

im willing to give this man all the glory he deserves but when we look back on him this will not look good...but only if we are going by the floyd standards

floyd ddnt do cw's until his 5th and final weight class...canelo in his 2nd weight class 5 years removed from 30..and he has 5...he's already more than doubled mayweather's 2...
where is his diva tag? he is a bigger one that cotto

I don't recall anyone doing this. Catchweights are one thing but saying your opponent has to fight at the weight you're most comfortable at is ridiculous. Might as well abolish all the weight classes and just have everyone fight at their optimal weight lol.
