  • Comments Thread For: WBC Prez Would Approve Canelo/GGG Doubleheader

The World Boxing Council (WBC) is willing to support "everything necessary" to ensure that a mandatory fight takes place between their new middleweight world champion, Mexico's Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, and his mandatory challenger, unbeaten Kazakh Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, who also holds the WBA/IBO/IBF titles.

I like the idea. Add another 97,000 buys to Canelo's event.

So what would be the likely match-ups be involved?
If we could somehow get Jacobs/Quillin winner into double header either against Canelo/GGG I'd support it but I don't think it needs much building up.

Both guys have to face top ten opposition or perhaps GGG needs to keep to what he was doing this year and fighting the best possible on offer its the problem of promoters/managers and the fighters of those guys being cowards and not wanting to take a chance to become a champion at 160
                    Quillin
Jacobs (I think he'd do everything in his power to make a fight with GGG)
                    Dominic Wade
Andy Lee (Assuming he beats Saunders, Saunders will not have the balls to face either Canelo or GGG)

It's interesting tbh, here's what I'd propose If they're to do this -
Canelo Alvarez Vs David Lemieux (Common opponent of GGG)
                    GGG Vs Lee
