  • Comments Thread For: Is August In L.A The Best Card Ever? It Is In The Running

All promoters get carried away by the prospect of something big, something new and something glitzy. So it's no wonder that Matchroom's Eddie Hearn considered the stacked debut U.S. card orchestrated by Saudi Arabia's Turki Alalshikh for Aug. 3 in Los Angeles and declared it the best card ever staged on U.S. soil. Is it? Don King would have something to say about that considering cards like this 1994 wonder: "Revenge: The Rematches" at MGM Grand: Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. vs. Frankie Randall (140-pound title), Simon Brown vs. Terry Norris (154-pound title), Gerald McClellan-Julian Jackson (middleweight title), Azumah Nelson-Jesse James Leija (super-featherweight title).

There's a way, WAAAAY better card in Saudi on June 1st. Do these people even follow boxing?

Slight hyperbole from Eddie. This is the best fight card in the U.S. this year in August.

Its a really good card but the one there doing in June is better than this one.

The June 1st main event is better yes but the whole August 3rd card trumps the Saudi card.

I don’t think it’s the best card ever. I do think this is the first card in a while worthy the $80 ppv price since every fight on paper looks very entertaining.

If only PBC had done this from the beginning.

Great undercard ruined by a joke main event. Tszu Ortiz should be the headliner. Dud fighting a no-hoper is the walkout bout.

This is why boxing will never grow. You got absolute clown statements like this coming from "fans". Likely just a Spence fanboy who hates Crawford for putting the beating of a lifetime on his boy.

I feel like a lot of latinos are going to walk out after the co-main event just like what happened after the cruz and rollie fight. Without question, the best fight so far is Beterbiev and Bivol
