A partnership between Boxxer and the Manchester Box Cup means the two-day amateur competition will be streamed by Sky Sports in the UK.
The event was founded by David Pownall in 2022, and the Manchester Box Cup has momentum behind it, with leading Boxxer stars including Callum Simpson, Frazer Clarke and Karriss Artingstall, set to attend the finals on Sunday, May 25, to watch the next generation of champions.
“As a proud Mancunian, it’s an honor for Boxxer to support the Manchester Box Cup,” said Boxxer’s Ben Shalom. “Boxxer’s journey began right here in Manchester, and we’ve never forgotten our roots. From day one, our mission has been to create opportunities and elevate the sport at every level, especially where it begins: at local amateur clubs.
“Manchester has always been the beating heart of British boxing, producing world champions, unforgettable nights, and some of the most passionate fan bases in the sport. The Manchester Box Cup will bring together the best emerging talent from amateur clubs across Manchester, the North West, the UK, and beyond for what promises to be an outstanding tournament and celebration of grassroots boxing, with the finals streamed live on Sky Sports.”
Pownall said the support of Boxxer and Sky Sports was a “Game changer” for grassroots boxing, while former Olympian Frazer Clarke added: “It’s great to see Boxxer and Sky Sports supporting the Manchester Box Cup and giving back to the grassroots of the sport. I know first-hand how important tournaments like these are, and I’m excited to be ringside, encouraging the next generation of boxers coming through. Events like this are where champions are made.”
