Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation have advised BoxingScene.com that there are ongoing discussions between former champion Amir Khan (28-3, 19KOs) and powerful advisor Al Haymon, regarding a potential working relationship.

Haymon has been riding a hot streak in the last few weeks, adding more names to his massive stable of fighters. He recently signed up WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson and top welterweight contender Luis Collazo.

For nearly a year, Khan has been chasing a fight with WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., who is Haymon's top client. For months, Khan was a frontrunner to get a Mayweather fight, but Mayweather ultimately chose WBA champion Marcos Maidana for May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In order to get Mayweather, Khan has been very vocal about making a big splash at 147-pounds.

If a top name at welterweight is what Khan wants, then Haymon has what he's looking for. Haymon represents many of the other top welterweights and junior welterweights - including Keith Thurman, Paulie Malignaggi, Shawn Porter, Devon Alexander, Adrien Broner, Maidana, Lucas Matthysse, Danny Garcia, Andre Berto, Victor Ortiz and Collazo.
